# Discord Bot Terms of Service for Core Developments Bots

> Terms of Service for Core Developments Discord bots: what our bots do, how they work, what data they use, and the rules for adding them to your server.

These Discord Bot Terms of Service apply to every Discord bot built and operated by Core Developments. By adding one of our bots to a server or using its commands, you agree to these terms, our general [Terms of Service](https://coredevelopments.org/terms-of-service.md), and our [Privacy Policy](https://coredevelopments.org/privacy-policy.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is the **2026-2027 edition** of these terms, effective as of **October 4, 2026**. Questions? Email [admin@coredevelopments.org](mailto:admin@coredevelopments.org).

## 1. What Our Bots Do

Core Developments builds Discord bots that help servers run smoothly. Depending on the bot, features can include:

> [card] Moderation
>
> Filtering spam, enforcing server rules, and logging moderation actions.

> [card] Automation
>
> Handling routine tasks like welcome messages, role assignment, and reminders.

> [card] Utilities
>
> Helpful commands for server info, announcements, and community tools.

> [card] Integrations
>
> Connecting your server to Core Developments projects and other services.

Each bot's exact features are listed on its own page or help command.

## 2. How Our Bots Work

**1. You invite the bot**

A server administrator adds the bot through Discord's official invite flow and approves the permissions it requests.

**2. The bot reads what it needs**

The bot receives only the events and messages that its features and granted permissions require.

**3. Commands and actions run**

When you use a command or a feature is triggered, the bot performs the action and may store the minimum data needed to do it.

**4. You stay in control**

Server administrators can change the bot's permissions or remove it from the server at any time.

## 3. Data the Bots Use

Our bots may process and store limited data, such as:

* Discord user IDs, server IDs, and channel IDs
* Server settings you configure for the bot
* Moderation logs and command usage needed for features to work
* If you link your account with `/link`: your Discord username and the email address on your Discord account

Linked email addresses are only used for account, safety, and policy notices and for support requests. We never send marketing emails and never share your email with third parties unless legally required. You can unlink your account and have your email deleted at any time.

We do **not** sell bot data, and we only use it to operate and improve our bots. See our [Privacy Policy](https://coredevelopments.org/privacy-policy.md) for details, or email [admin@coredevelopments.org](mailto:privacy@coredevelopments.org) to request data removal.

## 4. Bot Permissions

Our bots only request the Discord permissions they need for their features. Server administrators are responsible for reviewing permissions before approving them. If you remove a permission, some features may stop working. We will never ask you to give a bot permissions it does not need.

## 5. Server Administrator Responsibilities

If you add one of our bots to your server, you agree to:

* Make sure your server follows [Discord's Terms of Service](https://discord.com/terms) and Community Guidelines
* Tell your members that the bot is in the server and what it does, where appropriate
* Configure the bot responsibly and not use it to target or harm members
* Remove the bot if you no longer agree to these terms

## 6. Rules for Using Our Bots

You agree not to:

* Use the bots to break [Discord's Terms of Service](https://discord.com/terms) or Community Guidelines
* Spam, abuse, or overload bot commands
* Try to exploit, reverse engineer, or find vulnerabilities in the bots without permission
* Use the bots to harass, threaten, or harm other users
* Use the bots to share hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise harmful content
* Use the bots to collect other users' personal information
* Resell or misrepresent our bots as your own

## 7. Age Requirement

You must be at least **13 years old** to use our bots. This matches Discord's minimum age. If we learn that a user is under 13, we may block their access and delete their bot data.

## 8. Safety and Getting Help

Your safety matters more than any bot feature. If something you see or experience while using our bots or any Discord server is upsetting, or if you are going through a hard time, please reach out.

> [card] [Get Help](https://coredevelopments.org/mental-health-resources.md)
>
> Free, confidential support resources, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

> [!WARNING]
>
> If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call **911** or your local emergency number right away.

## 9. Reporting Problems and Abuse

If one of our bots is being misused, behaving incorrectly, or being used to harm someone, report it to [admin@coredevelopments.org](mailto:admin@coredevelopments.org). Please include the server name, what happened, and screenshots if you have them. You can also report content directly to Discord through its built-in reporting tools.

To report a security vulnerability, email us privately instead of sharing it publicly. Please do not test vulnerabilities on servers you do not own.

## 10. Availability

Our bots are provided "as is". We work to keep them online and reliable, but we do not guarantee uptime, and features may change, pause, or be removed at any time. Check our [Status](https://coredevelopments.org/status.md) page for outages and maintenance.

## 11. Suspension and Blacklisting

Core Developments may block any user or server from using our bots, at any time and for any reason, including violations of these terms. Decisions are made by Core Developments staff.

## 12. Appeals

If you believe a user or server was blocked by mistake, you can appeal by emailing [admin@coredevelopments.org](mailto:admin@coredevelopments.org). Include your Discord user ID or server ID and why you think the decision should be reviewed. Staff will review appeals, and all final decisions are made by Core Developments.

## 13. Not Affiliated With Discord

Core Developments bots are independent and are not made, endorsed, or supported by Discord Inc. Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply when you use Discord.

## 14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Core Developments is not responsible for any loss, damage, or problems caused by using or being unable to use our bots, including lost data, server issues, or actions taken by server administrators. See our [Terms of Service](https://coredevelopments.org/terms-of-service.md) for full details.

## 15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Major changes will be announced on our [News](https://coredevelopments.org/news.md) page. Continued use of our bots after a change means you accept the updated terms.

## 16. Contact

For bot support, appeals, or questions, use our [Contact](https://coredevelopments.org/contact.md) page or email [admin@coredevelopments.org](mailto:admin@coredevelopments.org).
